We are excited to share that ARBI has expanded its bursary program to provide vital financial assistance to brain injury survivors. This expansion underscores our dedication to making our services accessible to everyone, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community.

Introducing the Mel Laine & Audrey Morrice Memorial Bursaries

We are honoured to introduce two new bursaries named after extraordinary individuals whose stories inspire us all:

Mel Laine

Mel Laine Memorial Bursary: This bursary celebrates the inspiring recovery journey of Mel Laine, who suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) after being critically injured in a hit-and-run incident in 1972. With unwavering support from ARBI co-founder Audrey Morrice, Mel relearned essential life skills and lived a full, meaningful life. This bursary supports young adult TBI survivors aged 18-30 in need of financial assistance.

Audrey Morrice

Audrey Morrice Memorial Bursary: Named in honour of ARBI’s co-founder, this bursary reflects Audrey’s lifelong commitment to aiding brain injury survivors. Audrey’s pioneering work in community-based brain injury rehabilitation has earned her numerous accolades, including induction into the Alberta Order of Excellence. This bursary assists ABI survivors aged 18 and older who require financial help.
